Glazing options
For V2A L-profile and aluminium L-profile portholes

This overview shows the possible combinations of door leaf thickness, glass thickness and gasket for standard versions of portholes and vision panels.

The information serves as a technical planning aid for selecting suitable glazing options. In addition to the standard dimensions, special dimensions are also possible, although certain design limits must be observed; these are also summarized in a PDF file.

Technical overview for glazing

The following tables provide a clear summary of the most important dimensions for standard versions, custom-made versions and glass diameters.

01

Standard glazing

The standard values apply to V2A L-profile portholes with a 15.5 mm leg length and to aluminium L-profile portholes with a 16 mm leg length.

Door leaf thickness Glass thickness Gasket
38 mm 4 – 6 mm 3 – 2 mm
40 mm 4 – 8 mm 4 – 2 mm
42 mm 4 – 10 mm 5 – 2 mm
44 mm 4 – 12 mm 6 – 2 mm
48 mm 4 – 16 mm 8 – 2 mm
50 mm 6 – 18 mm 9 – 2 mm
68 mm 24 mm 8 mm
Planning point: The suitable combination depends on the door leaf thickness, the desired glass thickness and the required gasket. The values should be checked against the specific door and glass planning before execution.
02

Special dimensions

Special dimensions are possible, although not all geometric features can be changed. Only the outer diameter and the leg length can be adjusted.

Maximum visible width
50 mm
Stainless steel leg length
1.5 – 58 mm
Aluminium leg length
2.0 – 58 mm
Gasket thicknesses
2 – 9 mm
The nominal diameter and the position of the bend cannot be changed. A black EPDM wedge gasket is provided as the gasket. Prices for special dimensions are available on request.
03

Glass diameter by door leaf cut-out

To determine the glass diameter, the cut-out in the door leaf is combined with the intended distance between the cut-out and the glass. In the listed standard cases, this distance is 10 mm in each case.

Cut-out in the door leaf Distance between cut-out and glass Glass diameter
200 mm 10 mm 180 mm
250 mm 10 mm 230 mm
300 mm 10 mm 280 mm
350 mm 10 mm 330 mm
400 mm 10 mm 380 mm
500 mm 10 mm 480 mm
Rule of thumb: For the listed standard values, the glass diameter is always 20 mm smaller than the cut-out in the door leaf.

Note on dimensional planning

The information should be checked before ordering and production against the specific installation situation, the door leaf, the desired glass thickness and the intended gasket.

Especially for special dimensions, it is important to note that not all component dimensions can be freely changed. The outer diameter and leg length can be adjusted, but the nominal diameter and the position of the bend cannot.

The result

The glazing overview turns pure dimension tables into a clear technical decision-making aid: standard values, special-dimension limits and glass diameters can be understood quickly while still remaining in the visual style of the interactive GESCO installation guides.
